Internet Use in the Learning of English as a Distance Learner
Internet
is a very useful technology of the modern times in helping us not only in our
daily life but also used for the development of our personal and professional
lives to filter the information they needed. Moreover, for the students, the
Internet has been widely used to gather knowledge for various purposes related
to the subject that they are currently receiving. As for me, the internet has
been helping me in enhancing the use of English language as a distance learner.
If compare with module and other materials, internet has greatly helped me in
strengthening my English. In directly, it is able to improve my speaking and
reading comprehension skills. The aspect internet help me the most are speaking
(1), reading (2), grammar (3), vocabulary (4), and writing (5).
Using
the internet has helped me improve my English speaking skill. I can learn the
proper techniques of speaking because I am able to access the videos and also
exercises directly from internet sources. For instance, website of http://www.1-language.com has empowered my
speaking skill when they provide a lot of explanations and information’s especially
in the articles publish that helped me to understand better about communication
skill and systematic approach of English. Apart of that, also stated some tips
on how to speak English fluently with several suggestion such as to speak
everything that is done throughout the day in English or to record a daily
audio journal to practice speaking English. Likewise, the correct use of words can
be truly enjoyable activities of studying the English language.
Secondly,
internet has helped me improve my English reading skill as distance learner. In
addition, Internet has the potential to reach global audience as compare to
other materials. I’m able to express my opinions and ask question when do the
discussion with others. The best medium for me is at http://www.gcflearnfree.org. Its enhancing
knowledge about reading comprehension when it’s providing useful activities
that can challenge our ability. In the websites, learners can involve with by
review the articles and answer related questions prepared. They can try it for
many times until they get the answer right.
Lastly,
third aspect internet helped me the most are grammar and vocabulary aspect. The

where I can strengthen my English by doing exercises such as simple past, past
progressive, and past perfect exercises. They gave us situation in the text and
ask us to fill in the blank with suitable answer related to engage topic. I can
identify which aspect that I am weak of and able to improve it with additional
reading about the topic.
As
conclusion, learnt through the internet has given me a lot of benefit as
distance leaners. I could gain at least 75% of the knowledge about certain topic
through the internet. I didn’t face any difficulties when using the internet because
it’s flexibility that enable me to find information about English courses
anywhere. Besides, it’s easier for me to update of content as well as archival
capabilities while accessing to the information’s about certain task in
academic portal. Hence, PPPJJ has been helping me to discover the globalization
of world without boundaries, hunting for knowledge that allowed millions of
people, at home, and at work, to sharing knowledge anywhere, any time and with
anyone.
